Gaining Life Skills through Employment

 At Roots of Hope, we understand the importance of equipping individuals with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in their new lives. We offer a wide range of training and skill-building programs designed to help our participants achieve their full potential.

From learning a new trade like coffee making, to developing essential job skills and finding employment, we believe that providing access to these resources is essential to building a better future for everyone. Our programs are tailored to meet the unique needs and challenges of our participants, and we work closely with them to ensure their success.

In addition to training and skill building, we also provide a supportive network of mentors and peers, who offer guidance and encouragement throughout their journey. By providing culturally-specific training and programs, we give migrants and refugees a chance for a bright future.

Empowering Pathways 

This program aims to:

• Highlight the resilience of young migrants and refugees
• Transform their challenges into strengths and opportunities for growth
• Connect them with volunteer and work experiences to gain valuable experience
• Equip them with skills such as resume writing, interview preparation, and job searching
• Provide ongoing support and mentorship to ensure job retention
• Address barriers such as language, health, drug and/or alcohol issues
• Help young migrants and refugees transition from merely surviving to thriving

Grace Op Shop 

Grace Op Shop is a social enterprise aimed at providing training and skills to young adults from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Our objective is to empower individuals through up-skilling; restoring dignity in the face of various adversities.

We also offer a tailoring and alterations workshop— a space to learn new skills in mending and making, while also fostering a sense of community and belonging.  

We are accepting used clothing donations to support our Grace Op Shop, providing affordable options for those in need. Your generosity will not only benefit those in your community, but also help reduce waste and promote sustainability. 

To maintain and grow this project, Roots of Hope is seeking financial support to acquire materials, equipment, and experienced trainers. Assistance from individuals, organisations and councils willing to support this initiative will enable Roots of Hope to equip young adults from migrant and refugee backgrounds with the skills and knowledge they need to reach their full potential.
